Message from Resource Person (Marlene Joslin )

Namaste,
There is something special about Sanjeewani Pre-school and you notice it from the first moment you arrive . The bright colours ,the pots of flowers,and most importantly ,the smiles on the faces of the children and teachers .This is a school where the children clearly love to come to learn and play every day. Dedicated , caring educators who love what they do are here giving 110% to insure that the children have an amazing experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and look forward to consulting further to help Sanjeewani grow and flourish.

The 0-5 years are the time when childrens’ brains are rapidly developing .It is important to stimulate those brains with creative projects ,hands-on-exploration of materials ,intellectual challenges and great literature . Social-emotional learning such as conflict-resolution ,problem solving and development of empathy is equally as important as academic learning. Academic must be taught using developmentally appropriate methods so that children are working on specific tasks suited to their ages ,needs and abilities .High goals and expectation should be outlined for each age group ,while keeping in mind that learning experiences for young children should be interesting and fun.

Marlene Joslin has a B.A. From Beloit College in English, Theatre Arts and Education. Her M.Ed from Lesley University is in the field of Expressive Therapies .Thirty-one years ago, Marlene had the first of her two children and her interest in child development began. She obtained her teaching credentials for early childhood education and has taught in both private and public pre-school and kindergarten programs since 1992. Marlene currently resides in St Augustine , Florida ,US.
